“Auditing Bill Gates’ Common Core Spending”
by Mercedes Schneider – Huffington Post
Introductory comments by Donna Garner:
VILLAIN #1: Bill Gates has been able to use his billions (combined with those of Warren Buffett’s) to “purchase Common Core Standards” from which Microsoft will make more billions.
VILLAIN #2: David Coleman -- (1) who was the main writer of the Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts & Literacy in History/Social Studies, Science, and Technical Subjects, (2) who has never taught a day in K-12, and (3) who is now the head of The College Board and plans to align the SAT with the Common Core Standards -- owns a company called Student Achievement Partners.
The only thing that Student Achievement Partners does is Common Core Standards. Coleman’s company received $6.5 Million from Bill Gates. In essence, Bill Gates “owns” the person who wrote the Common Core Standards for English/Language Arts that, if implemented in our nation’s schools, will destroy the teaching of the great, time-honored classics of Western civilization and a belief in our school children that America is an exceptional nation.
VILLAIN #3: Thomas Ratliff, who is ineligible to be on the Texas State Board of Education, has led the vendors/lobbyists/education establishment to support CSCOPE which is an online curriculum used in 875 schools in Texas and is directly tied to Common Core Standards.
In a public debate on 8.24.13, Ratliff admitted he had never read a CSCOPE lesson. Why then, is he driving Texas schools to continue to use this failed product? Thomas Ratliff has been a registered lobbyist for Bill Gates’ Microsoft since at least 1998 and has made millions.
Even though Texas is one of the few states not to commit to the CCS, Gates/Ratliff/Coleman managed to plow the CCS philosophy of education (i.e., Type #2) right into our Texas schools. Grassroots citizens have risen up to battle Ratliff/CSCOPE, but other states need to be on the lookout for the discredited CSCOPE product which has now changed its name to TCMPC. Any online products sold to schools end up enriching Gates’/Ratliffs’ (and probably Coleman’s) pockets because these are generally set up on Microsoft platforms and utilize MS applications. – Donna Garner]

Excerpts from this article by Mercedes Schneider:
[Common Core Standards are not state led.] -- …”[out of] a listing of 29 individuals associated with Student Achievement Partners, ACT, College Board, and Achieve. In truth, only 2 out of 29 members are not affiliated with an education company.
One man [Bill Gates], lots of money, nationally shaping a profession to which he has never belonged.
CCSS is not "state led." It is "Gates led."
How foolish it is to believe that the man with the checkbook is not calling the CCSS shots.
In total, the four organizations primarily responsible for CCSS- NGA, CCSSO, Achieve, and Student Achievement Partners- have taken $147.9 million from Bill Gates.
Bill Gates likes Common Core. So, he is purchasing it. In doing so, Gates demonstrates (sadly so) that when one has enough money, one can purchase fundamentally democratic institutions.

[The arrows mean “lead to.”]
National standards → national assessments → national curriculum → national teacher evaluations with teachers’ salaries tied to students’ test scores → teachers teaching to the test each and every day → national indoctrination of our public school children → national database of students and teachers containing personally intrusive information
